About Denise
Denise Lane has been living and playing music in Tucson AZ since 2002. Formerly of the Bay Area, where she fell in love with theatre and music, she wrote her first song for the piano at 18, but it wasn't until she picked up the guitar that she really dug into songwriting.
Once in Tucson, she started The Spurloafers with her now-wife, drummer Ashley Chamberlain. They were joined by Bruce Langevin, Dean Maier, and Rob Martin. They released 2 albums, The Spurloafers and Lost Album. The band went through a few different configurations over the years with contributions from violinist Bill Hubbard, guitarist Gabe Romero, and bassist Scott Anderson.
In 2019, Denise started the folk/blues/country trio The Jane Heirs with friends and fellow songwriters Kristie Cunningham and Kathy Kolmer. When Kristie moved to Duluth in 2023, Nancy McCallion stepped in for the next year or so. Currently the band functions as both a duo and a trio with contributions from Leslie Liberman.
In 2022 Denise formedUnsettled, an angsty, moody, dreamy duo initially inspired by 90s music with her friend and fellow singer/songwriter Tammy West. This combination has led to a great deal of collaborative songwriting.
in 2023 Denise began writing a rock opera, returning a to her musical theatre rootsf, also in collaboration with Tammy West. This project is ongoing.
Denise released her first solo album Can You Hear It? in 2026.
